Challenging HOHAM – Perspective
A student who uses perspective is one "who can reflect and articulate on different points of view."
Math
During the beginning of the period each day for day for math, we would work on a different warm-up prompt. While I was usually able to to find out how to solve each of the problems, I struggled when we compared our steps of how we found our answers as a table. I would always be confident that my solution was correct, and it would be hard for me to evaluate the process of another student without putting it up against my own work. To improve, I will change my mindset to be more other possibilities by using my strong suit, unlimited potential. |

Writing Seminar
The main area in Writing Seminar in which I struggled was also through "The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year" performance we put on, the same project in which I found my strength. During rehearsals, I was managing the production asa co-director, and my partner had been an original script writer. Having that knowledge of how the characters interacted and how the stage was supposed to be set definitely helped my colleague, and I did not have that experience, so we did had different ideas of how we wanted the play to look. However, I will improve on this HOHAM by becoming more aware of the circumstances of my peers and maybe let them take more of a lead on those decisions because of their background in the area. |

Physics
I had a difficult time with perspective in Physics with the "Physicist Biography and Tape Art" project. While researching a famous physicist who made a large contribution to their specific field in society, I learned about all of the great discoveries of James Clerk Maxwell. Maxwell created the first color photograph, looked at electromagnetism, and found that Saturn's rings were not solid, among others. While I marveled at the discoveries he made, it was hard for me to really step into the shoes of someone who lived in the 19th century. To become more successful in this area, it would be helpful for me to understand the situation as if I were a first-hand witness during the time period I am researching, and maybe use a little supposition. What if Maxwell's inventions had never existed? |

Humanities
The hardest part about the solution letter I wrote for Humanities regarding a certain environmental or waste issue for the "Nature & Me" project was understanding the audience I was trying to reach. With a plan in mind on carton labeling at school and how to limit the waste on campus, I was going to contact a local carton company to consider my plan, but I had to realize that my writing had to express a balance between relatability and professionalism. When I am in these situations in the future, it would be helpful for me to jot down some characteristics about the audience I am writing to in order to gain a better perspective on the topic. |
