Lord of the Flies Reading
For our first literacy unit in Humanities, we read the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Throughout the time we read the book, we annotated, analyzed, and broke down new vocabulary from the book. Our work from the vocabulary section of the unit was shown through weekly Creative Writing stories, where we would incorporate anywhere from 5-10 vocabulary words for each one. With our annotations, we wrote an in-class essay that answered either 1 of 4 questions, all ranging from the least challenging (mild) to the most challenging (very spicy). I took the very spicy option, which was to write about the following prompt: "What is the theme of LOTF?" In my essay, I talked about how all of the issues that occurred later on in the book could be attributed to the lack of positive communication that they established at the beginning. With that in mind, I feel like I used the HOHAM unlimited potential the most efficiently in this project because I was able to push myself to my limits.
