Physicist Biography/Tape Art
For this project we were to research a physicist from the past and their impact on history, the present, and what it will be on the future. We wrote a biography on whichever person this may be that made a significant contribution to the sciences, and then we create a portrait of them using tape. With symbols, images and quotes to represent their life timeline, we constructed visuals to exhibit to the High Tech North County village at the end of the unit. This exhibition was from grades ranging from K-12, to parents, and to some teachers. I researched physicist James Clerk Maxwell, who contributed to the concept of electromagnetism, discovered that Saturn's rings were not solid, and created the first color photograph. Below, you will find my biography and the pictures detailing the process of the project.
I was really proud of the work I completed for this project. I struggled during the early steps of formulating my design for my poster and I was behind for a while, but with a lot of diligence I was able to catch up. I was also able to learn a lot about Maxwell and his importance in historical and modern societies. It is not until you research someone like this when you actually realize how much change they brought to the world during their time. With all of this information and influence packed into me, I was able to make a great final product for our exhibition. Ever wondered about space, or photography, or math, or magnetism, or electricity? Maxwell covered all of these fields as a busy 19th century scientist. With this in mind, I feel that I used the HOHAM intellectual curiosity the best throughout this project because I was able to question history with an open mind.
