Conversación en Español - 2/24/16
After a fairly successful initial conversation in Spanish a few weeks ago, we had another assignment to film again with a partner. This time around, we would ask a total of 17 questions focused around family. The first 5 questions would be "getting to know" the other person, such as asking someone what his/her name was, where he/she was born, etc. The next five questions would be "getting to know" his/her family, such as asking them what their siblings' names were, what their mom's name was, etc. The final 7 questions were ones we had not learned yet, but that we could deduce from the content we had already learned. For example, if we knew how to ask someone what their favorite color was, we could then use that information to ask them what their mom's favorite color was. Below, you will find the transcript I produced with a partner regarding these questions, which we would later film and publish. To the right, you will also find our recording for these 17 questions, which we filmed after presenting our questions and answers in front of our class.
The biggest challenge that I faced with this conversation were the high stakes involved with the exercise. We had just 24 hours to develop our script, and only 30 minutes to practice and rehearse for our presentation. I was extremely nervous about this time crunch, but I was able to overcome it in the end. Thanks to some determination and collaboration with my partner, we had a nice, fluid conversation in front of the class, and managed to incorporate all of the questions and answers in a precise manner. Despite this challenge regarding the time limit for the conversation, I was really proud of the progress that my partner and I made over the course of just a half hour. I was hesitant to accept the fact that I had to memorize all of the information necessary to complete the assignment for the presentation and the video, but it all came through in the end. My partner and I agreed on the structure of the conversation, and we worked really well together. I would personally give myself a 10 for all of the work I did for this assignment. I managed my time well, memorized all of the questions that I needed to present, utilized a variety of unique questions, and my delivery was effective in front of the class and the camera. It was definitely hard to come to terms with the parameters of the exercise, but once I did, I think I was very successful given the requirements. |
I apologize in advance for the uncharacteristic thumbnail for this video.
