Typography Portrait
For the Typography Portrait Project, we were to model the portrait of either ourselves or an inspirational person using the program Adobe Illustrator. While this portrait had to accurately depict our chosen person's face, it also had to only include words, numbers, and characters, (keyboard symbols), to make up that person's face. Using tools such as the "eyedropper" tool, the "free distort" tool, and the "arc" too, we were able to fill in the details and the outline of the drawing or picture we wanted to recreate. The person I chose was Chris Paul, point guard for the Los angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Being a basketball player myself, I look up to him as being a smaller athlete to be successful as a professional. This is only a small part of why he is influential to me, however, among other traits. Being involved in charities for underprivileged youth, Chris Paul promotes the health and education for kids who may not have as many opportunities to make a difference to and maintain a positive lives in times of need. Known as the CP3 Foundation, the Clippers point guard dedicated his community service organization to his late grandfather, who wanted to help address society's ailing issues. Chris Paul is additionally a prominent media figure, appearing in many State Farm commercials, giving him the light of being an agent who wants to assist clients off the court. This entire idea of helping others is why I am so inspired by him, (and even though I am a Los Angeles Lakers fan), I cannot think of a more powerful figure to portray through this project.
