"How Do We Endure" Project
While there were many components involved with the "How We Endure" Project, the main foci were to gauge self-improvement, to present about one of the bodily systems, and to venture on local hikes to identify various species of plants. One of the most important products related to these project goals was the "System Lesson" Presentation, which was a 50-minute lecture and activity that our groups of three students had to give to the class regarding a system. My group presented on the digestive system, and collaborated to create a PowerPoint that would fully educate our peers on the system. In addition to this requirement, we also had to interview one physician and one athlete about our chosen system, specifically looking for their insight on that aspect of the body. Our group also highlighted Celiac Disease for our TeenGenes video and our interviews, and conducted much of our research around the condition. Below, you will find my group's slides from our presentation, our activity protocol, our research document regarding Celiac Disease, and a written transcript of our interviews with Dr. Jason Ken Hou of the Baylor College of Medicine, Talia Hassid of the Celiac Disease Foundation, and professional skater Jesse Fritsch.
